Just like the typical southern island of Nusa Penida which is filled with giant rock cliffs, Tembeling is also like that, uniquely here there are springs and small beaches between the cliffs. Tembeling is an area that has a sea and a beach and there are also springs and swimming pools formed by natural rocks in this place.
Before tourism developed in Nusa Penida, Tembeling was a spring used by the people of Nusa Penida, especially those located in South Nusa Penida as a place to collect water, especially during the dry season. People flocked here to collect water for drinking and cooking because during a prolonged dry season the water stock in the shelter would run out.
After tourism developed in Nusa Penida, the Tembeling area became one of the objects worth visiting. Unlike other tourist areas in Nusa Penida, Tembeling is a cool place. The sun’s rays are covered by lush tropical forests and towering cliffs.
How to get to Tembeling
Tembeling spring is located in Batumadeg village, Nusa Penida sub-district, geographically Tembeling is located in the southern part of Nusa Penida. The first thing you have to do is reach the island of Nusa Penida by crossing from the port of Sanur, Kusamba, or Padang Bay.
Go to Tembeling from the port of Nusa Penida is about 40 kilometers with a distance of about 45 minutes. Tourists who use cars must park about 1 kilometer from the Tembeling spot because the last 1 kilometer can only be accessed by motorbike. From the car park, you can take a motorcycle taxi to Tembeling at a cost of IDR 50,000 per person for a return trip. If you bring a motorbike, you only pay for an IDR 5,000 motorbike parking ticket and enter the Tembeling area yourself.
Be careful when driving alone in the Tembeling area because the road is quite narrow and long derivatives, during the rainy season the roads made of white stone will become very slippery. It is recommended that only those who are really experts in using motorized vehicles can ride motorbikes here.
Things to do in Tembeling
There are 3 pools here which are flowed continuously from the Tembeling spring, most of the tourists who visit here do not miss the moment to swim. Choose one of the pools according to the depth you want.
In one of the large pools, there is an area to jump cliff with a height of 3 meters and 5 meters, many local children from Nusa Penida do it. If you want to try, just go up to one of the jumping points and go jump. The depth of the large pool is about 4-5 meters.
Secret beach and cave
Walking a few minutes from the large pool towards the sea you will find a cave and a beach, although not so big this beach has its own uniqueness. I don’t know who started piling stones here so there are dozens of piles of stones made by every tourist who comes here.
