How Rangrang Made
From the beginning of the yarn spinning process from cotton, the yarn coloring is then woven into a cloth that can be used and takes days. There are two kinds of fabric coloring processes, namely synthetic coloring and natural coloring.
Among the natural colors are: 1) babakan poh (mango stem bark) produces yellow color, 2) babakan noni root produces red color, 3) babakan poh wood produces dark gray color, 4) babakan juwet produces brownish color, and 5) indigo leaves produce a black color.
Both sides of the rangrang woven cloth can be used as the outer side, because both sides are the same light color, unlike ordinary cloth which has a dim inner side.
Now it is very unfortunate that not all people preserve this woven fabric. Only a small proportion of the Nusa Penida community is still producing Rangrang woven fabrics.
